Mulled wine quark

Mulled wine quark is a version of my recipe for fruit quark previously posted in this blog. This Christmassy dessert is made with (light) mulled wine and apple-cinnamon marmalade.

You can use quark (with fat or fat-free) or creamier alternatives, such as Turkish yogurt.

For a vegan version, you can substitute, for example, the cream with oat cream and the quark with soy yogurt.

This mulled wine quark is suitable for those following a gluten-free diet; however, make sure that the crushed almonds do not contain e.g. traces of wheat.

The light mulled wine by Valio is a good option for the mulled wine used in this recipe.

Mulled wine quark (5 servings)

Ingredients

2 dl     double cream
250g   quark or thick Turkish yogurt (e.g., by Salakis or Rainbow)
3 tbsp powdered sugar (or 2 tbsp of caster sugar)
2 tsp   vanilla sugar
1/2 dl  apple-cinnamon marmalade
1 dl     crushed almonds
1/2dl   (light) mulled wine
1 dl     raisins

For garnish:
gingerbread
powdered sugar coated lingonberries or cranberries

How to make:
  1. Whip the cream.
  2. Mix in the quark (or Turkish yogurt) and the sugars.
  3. Add the marmalade, crushed almonds, mulled wine and raisins.
  4. Fill the mix evenly into dessert glasses/bowls.
  5. Keep in cold. Garnish right before serving.

For serving, crystal red wine glasses are a festive option.
